Mayan museumChumpon, was during the last century, refugee for the mayan resistence that participated in the castle war. The main reason to launch this revelion was to have a Mayan territory and to preserve the Mayan culture. This museum is dedicated to recover the historic memory of that project and how it has been evolving.

Bird observatory 

Sian Ka'an Bird observatorySian Ka'an is home of  360 bird species, including several endemics. The goal of the bird observatory  is to engage other community members on bird  watching as well to collect  and organize biological  relevant information

Butterfly farm

butterfly farmSeveral of our members has been beekepers for  lifetime.  Such as that,  we know very well about the ecological importance of insects. We launch this project as a way to expend our knowledge of the forest and as a way to preserve the biological richness of the site where we live.

A Mayan ecotourism enterprise


Community Tours Sian Ka'an is a tourism service alliance of three tour operators based in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. Mayan for "where the sky is born," Sian Ka'an is the home to dozens of families as well as an abundance of wildlife. The commitment of each tour provider and guide to ecologically sustainable tourism distinguishes Community Tours Sian Ka'an from any other tour operator in the Biosphere Reserve.

The members of Community Tours Sian Ka'an are based in Punta Allen and Muyil, two small communities within the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. In an area that can likely see more than 30,000 tourists each year, Community Tours Sian Ka'an is committed to ensuring the highest quality tourism experience to each visitor. Our commitment to conservation in our tourism practices, and the local knowledge of our guides makes for a genuinely different and exciting adventure.

Our tour itineraries are based on three principles which reflect our local economic impact as well as our commitment to conservation:
  1. Ensuring personalized experiences in small groups that minimize ecological impact.
  2. Offering tours that provide adventure and education about the challenges to conservation within the reserve.
  3. Providing genuine cultural exchanges.

Born and rise in Chumpon, one of the most importat towns of the Mayan resistance in the 18th century. When child, he used to work as farmer and in the last 10 years he was a beekeeper. He loves birds but more butterflies.

He won a national award on "design furniture" for his artistics skills as carpentier. He is an avid birdwatcher and a very passionated conservationist. In 2006 he expend one month on Ontario learning how monitor bird populations. Now, addtitional to lead our tours he is managing our bird monitoring program.
Fernando Rosado Fernando Rosado

He is the sportman on CTSK! he practice MTB, kayaking and swiming.  He expend one year traveling on Canada practicing swiming and learning French, and when return to Mexico launched a bike tour company . He joined CTSK in 2008 as contractor.

He introduced to our tours the incredible set of delicious meals. After seven years working in hotels of the Mayan riviera as a Cheff, decided to return to his Mayan village of Chumpon with to goal to use his skills with community-based enterprises. .

He studied and started his carrier on tourism in Merida, Yucatan  where he worked in travel agencies and rental car companies. He is interested on bussines and in tourism specially.

As a child he worked with his family cultivating in the forest and then collecting chicle gum.  Those activities gave him a long experience living in the forest, that is why he has a special talent to see and hear since small animals until large mammals tracks.

Is a passionated on local development, for that reasons he wnet to university get his bachelor on Industrial engeniering focuss on business development.  He worked in hotels and  providing technical assistance to a dozen of community based enterprises in the Mayan area of Quintana Roo.

Sales manager
She studied tourism and additionally toke special training as a  guide. She had worked for tour operators as well for thematic parks. Shie is waiting her first baby, then she wants to guide in the marveolus Sian Ka'an.
